... it has been a wonderful day!!!
I was out of town for my birthday, actually, I was flying back to Arizona that day and sorta' forgot all about myself. Ok, well, not really, I did buy myself a gift, (Keen shoes) for my special day, which was great.
So, earlier I received a call from my dear friend Susie, she said she wanted to take me to dinner as a late birthday gift, well, who am I to say 'No' and deprive her of such a privilege. I asked her where to, and she said, "ANYWHERE YOU WANT TO GO!" Carte Blanc!?! Now that's my kinda' gal! Hehe!!
I was so excited to end my great day (after my amazing hike this morning) with a delicious meal. I told her I'd shower (good idea, since I had about 8 miles of Desert heat on me, yuck), and then meet her at her place. I pondered the profound question in my mind, "Where should I go, hmmm, what sounds good, hmmm, anywhere? hmmmm... " and you know how the rest goes... MMMMMMmmmm! VERY INTENSE, VERY, VERY INTENSE!! Ha!
I was so absorbed in my thoughts and the complex process of deduction, trying my best to find the solution to such an important dilemma. I pondered different cultural foods, restaurants, meals and dessert menus in my mind, then I began putting lotion on... only to notice that the lotion was not moisturizing like it ought to. I looked down at my leg and noticed it was sorta' sitting there like smeared glue... hmm... so, intent on my mission to select the right place, I was not distracted by this minor incident. I rubbed harder until I got the 'lotion' to disappear, like it was intended to. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!! It was then, I thought to myself (epiphany), SELF -something's not right, so I grabbed the bottle and I realized that I had just smeared 4 limbs worth of 'shower cream' on myself. Hello??? So, back into the shower I went!!
I did manage to locate the right bottle and recreate the prior scene, except this time I used the real lotion. Duh!!!
I finally settled on P.F. Changs, a light yet sensible choice! Haha, actually, I had alterior motives (they have one of my favorite desserts), sssshhh. We began with Lettuce Wraps, a must if you've not had them. We then moved on to some entrées, these included Moo Goo Gai Pan, Almond Cashew Chicken and Orange Peel
Chicken, on a bed of rice. Yummmy!!(Please note the sensible portions... remembering one must ALWAYS leave room for dessert! Well, not really, I mean, everyone knows that there's a separate dessert stomach; but sensible portions do help you appear to be disciplined and restrained before your friends; since they'll not be at your house the second you walk through the door and make a b-line to the utensil drawer for a fork to finish off the left overs. Haha!)
Now, a Birthday celebration would not be a celebration at all if there was not a dessert, right?! Right!! So, here's Susie with her celebration portion.
A 6-layer Wall of Chocolate, resting in a pool of raspberry sauce, with some fresh berries, to boot. Wowzers, it was beautiful... here, let me give you a close up. Now that's some serious chocolate. You see, Susie's a Chocoholic (I think it's ok to tell you, I mean we're all friends here, right?!), I'm sure some of you can relate with her.. I am glad to say, I cannot (Insert: Head slightly tilted and nose raised high, in perfect form)! I would almost always prefer (insert clearing of throat & British accent) something light with fruit as it's main ingredient. You know something that may have twice the calories but sounds healthier because it has fruit in it. =)
Well, the night was still young, so we had the waitress take a picture of us together with our desserts. I would add a close-up of mine, but it wouldn't even get close to the beauty you've already seen.
As the night went on, we began to look more and more angelic... as you can tell by the 'haze' that began to surround us. Ha, must've been all that sugar. :)
I finally convinced Susie to take a walk with me, it was a good thing she agreed because I was driving, hehe... anyway, so we dropped our left overs off in the car and headed out. Kierland Commons is the name of the High-end, Exclusive shopping area we were at... it is so much fun to walk through. We stopped at one of my favorite shoppes (Z Gallery) and found some pretty hilarious things... I laughed so hard that a young couple came over and started looking at all of the things I'd been looking at and they started laughing too.... so instead of spending money on everything I liked, I took pictures of them. Hmm... I may go back and get some of these things, SSSssshhhhh! :)
(These are hilarious because both my sister and sister-n-law are expecting)
(These were in a "Do's and Dont's Instruction Book" for new parents)
(The first book on the left was hilarious, because it was full of empty pages - LOL!
The other book, helps a Hypochondriac self diagnose with
rare and hard to pronounce maladies - Hilarious!)
Oh, I almost forgot to tell you... It was thundering, lightning, cool and drizzling when we were heading back to the car. What a perfect end to a most fantastic day!!

i really enjoyed reading that! especially suzy with the bowling ball sized piece of choc cake. Who are we kidding on the running home and making a beeline for the utensil? my guess is that suzy didn't even make it out of your driveway before finishing it off.
Great post...enjoyed reading it! Laughed at the shower gel incident. You are hilarious!
Glad that you had a Happy Birthday...please forgive this blonde for not remembering. I'm even forgetting my own families' birthdays in these BUSY days! =) Your time with Susie looked like a blast!
Love ya bunches, and have a SUPER day! =D
